Grief is a universal experience; however, it comes at different points of life for individuals. Supporting autistic children and youth who are dealing with the death of a loved one or a pet, a family members serious illness or other losses is imperative. Grief can impact things such as school performance, learning, behavior, and peer relationships. This workshop will provide:
- The stages of grief (Kubler-Ross Model) and discuss how the stages are not necessarily linear.
- Explore the many ways that grief can be expressed.
- Considerations for supporting the needs of grieving autistic children and youth.
- Resources and supports for families and children dealing with grief.
