Event Details
Our Kindergarten Preparation Social Group is a group for children ages 3-5 years old which focuses on the preparation and integration of children into classroom life. It allows children to learn and develop key skills needed for a smooth transition into elementary school. Our ethos looks at using socialization as a means for learning skills such as listening and communicating whilst developing literacy, numeracy and fine motor skills such as tracing, writing and reading.
This group has a maximum of 4 children and 2 staff. This group run every Monday and Friday from 10am – 12pm.
Skills Development Focus
Our program will look at developing the following skills;
*Help dress and undress (jackets, hats, gloves, sweaters, shoes).
*Use safety scissors, hold pencils, color.
*Socialize with peers, respect others, understand the concepts of sharing and taking turns.
*Draw shapes, trace letters, write names, match pictures, identify numbers.
*Eat independently.
*Fine Motor Skills: Throwing, catching, kicking etc.
*Listening, follow directions.
*Communication.
*Socialization.
Goals for this Program
1. To enable children to learn and develop skills required for kindergarten and the comfortable integration into school life.
2. Create a comfortable, caring and nurturing environment where children can socialize with their peers and develop a rapport with others.
3. Incorporate new activities into children’s daily lives including cooking, arts and crafts and music to heighten engagement and spark interest in a range of activities.
4. Ensure parents are happy with their child’s development on the road to kindergarten.
