Sheila Threndyle, SLP
Chill & Chat-Social and executive function skills program for neuro-diverse youth.
Our evidence-based program consists of 16 weekly afternoon sessions, taught by two registered and certified SLPs, one of whom is neuro-divergent herself, and at least four, trained peer coaches.
Depending on the number of registered participants, two groups may run concurrently, with participants grouped, as much as possible, by age and similar executive function skill profile. We meet weekly for an hour, alternating between neighbourhood community centres, where we present executive function skill strategies one week and then expect the participants to practice the previous week’s skills and strategies within community activities and group restaurant meals, the second week. Following the sessions, parents receive detailed notes regarding their observations, youths’ participation information, and additional strategies families can practice at home.
