The Experience of Crisis in Families of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders Across the Lifespan
This online article describes a research study that focuses on three components of a crisis: antecedents (events that trigger the onset of a crisis), behaviors (events that occur during a crisis), and consequences (outcomes of a crisis). The study examined families’ experiences of the different components and how they may vary based on the age of a child with autism.
The Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research group, based out of York University, writes summaries of research studies on autism and developmental disabilities to inform parents, individuals with autism, practitioners, and the general public on recent findings about autism.
