This article provides a brief description of art therapy, the application of art with the intent to enhance functioning. To date, there have been no scientific studies examining the efficacy of art therapy for individuals on the autism spectrum.

The Association for Science in Autism Treatment (ASAT) is a not-for-profit organization of parents and professionals committed to improving the education, treatment, and care of people with autism. Their website states that the organization’s goal is to “work toward adopting higher standards of accountability for the care, education and treatment of all individuals with autism.”
