Rural eMentoring BC
Online mentoring for BC’s rural students
Rural eMentoring BC’s (ReMBC) high school program matches high schools and individual students in grades 7-12 living outside the metro-Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna areas with postsecondary student mentors from across BC. Mentors interact one-on-one with mentees virtually via monitored messages and video calls to discuss academic or social issues, post-graduation plans, postsecondary applications, and anything else mentees are interested in. This is a program for students of all abilities that autistic and intellectually and developmentally disabled students may benefit from. Mentors paired with autistic students are pointed to the National Autistic Society’s student mentor guidelines.
ReMBC also offers a similar undergraduate rural pre-health program, which matches undergraduate students interested in health and medical careers who are from or intend to work in rural communities with mentors currently in a health profession study program.
