SIBSHOPS: Sibkids and Sibteens

SIBSHOPS are fun, action-packed workshops for kids who have a sibling with a developmental disability. SIBSHOPS is an internationally acclaimed program led by experienced facilitators who understand the unique needs of siblings.

Through a combination of play, discussion, and hands-on activities, Sibshops helps siblings:
• Build confidence and recognize their own strengths.
• Connect with peers who share similar experiences.
• Develop coping strategies for the challenges they face at home and in their social lives.
• Foster a sense of pride in their role within their family.

We offer two programs that meet once per month from October to May:
• Sibkids for siblings aged 7-11yrs meet one Saturday each month, 10:30 am- 2:30 pm
• Sibteens for siblings aged 12-15yrs meet one Wednesday each month, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Mandate: Community Options for Children and Families is a welcoming, innovative organization that provides a wide range of services to people with developmental disabilities, their families, and their caregivers on South Vancouver Island. We work in partnership with other organizations, individuals, and government to ensure the inclusion of all people in your community. Community Options was formed by a group of committed parents and supportive professionals in 1988. While the organization has grown since its inception, we strive to maintain the original vision of creating an inclusive community.
