Group Discounts

If three or more people register for the same event, at the same time and with one payment, ACT offers a 20% discount. This discount is applied at checkout in the online registration system, or calculated in-house if you phone in your registration.

Multi-event Discount

Occasionally, ACT will offer a discount if you register for two events occurring on consecutive days. This multi-event discount is not transferable – the same person must attend on both days. Payment must be made for both events at the same time. This offer is only available for certain events. If you are uncertain if your events qualify, or you have any questions, please call the office.

Web Streaming

Select events are available for web streaming.

Technical requirements
The online streaming technology that we are using is the same platform as YouTube. If you can watch YouTube videos, you can watch our live online streaming! Some tips:

  • Be sure your speakers or headphones are on, and the volume at an appropriate level.
  • If you have a large number of ‘tabs’ open in your browser, this will use your computers memory and slow the connection.
  • Check that your browser is up to date.
  • If video is stuttering or jumpy, change the resolution by clicking on the ‘gear’ icon.
  • To go full screen, click on the ‘box’ icon in the lower right of the image.
  • If you are having trouble with Internet Explorer or Safari, try using the Google Chrome browser.

Participation
Live online streaming video includes a live chat function facilitated by ACT staff. You will be able to post questions that will be passed to the speaker at an appropriate time, and be able to text chat with other online attendees.

Access
Registered viewers will be emailed a link to the online streaming page prior to the event. It is critical that you provide your preferred email address.

Receipts

Your receipt will be emailed to you at the email address you provided at registration within three working days your registration. If you do not receive a receipt, please contact the ACT office at info@actcommunity.ca or 1-866-939-5188 with your name, event you registered for and date you registered.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend:
  • Refunds for registration, less a $25 handling charge, are available if ACT is informed, in writing, one week (5 working days) before the workshop date.
    • POPARD events have a slightly different policy due to expenses for online materials. Please review the individual POPARD event details page for our cancellation policy.
  • No reimbursement will be made if you fail to attend a Live Event for which you have registered and have not cancelled at least 7 days prior to the Live Event date.
If weather or an emergency causes an ACT event to be postponed or cancelled:

Our concern is the safety of our registrants, speaker and staff. ACT will use our discretion in making decisions regarding our Live Events. We will base decisions on any emergency in the geographic area where our Live Event is to be held or at the point of departure from where our speaker and staff originate their travel or affecting our venue.

ACT will take the following steps to notify registrants of the status of the Live Event, when we have sufficient advance warning to do so:

  • Those registered who have provided a valid email address will receive an email notification alerting them of cancellation or postponement;
  • Those registered who have not provided an email address will be notified by telephone at the number they provided at the time of registration.
If a Live Event is cancelled by ACT:

A 100% credit for a future ACT workshop will be issued. Please note: ACT cannot accept responsibility for any expenses incurred by the participant from charges that involve travel, accommodations, or other expenses related to attending a Live Event. These are the sole responsibility of the participant as well as all risks associated with non- refundable purchases. ACT strongly recommends that participants purchase cancellation insurance for travel, etc. when possible.

Using Autism Funding to pay

Parents who receive Autism Funding may use 20% of the total for equipment, books, training and travel costs. ACT’s live events are considered eligible expenses by the Autism Funding Branch. Please pay when you register; the Autism Funding Branch will reimburse parents after the event.

Bursaries

ACT’s Bursary Program
ACT fundraises to provide bursaries for low-income participants and/or those travelling from outside their home regions to an event. ACT only provides bursaries prior to registration in the form of reduced registration fees. You are welcome to call or email ACT’s office (info@actcommunity.ca) for more information. ACT provided over $27,000 in bursaries in 2016 and gratefully accepts donations to our bursary fund to allow us to provide a greater level of support. Donate to our bursary fund.

New MCFD-funded Event Bursaries for Parents of Children with ASD

MCFD has provided ACT with funding for a bursary program for parents and caregivers of children with autism to attend ACT events at reduced registration rates until March 31, 2018. ACT will maximize equity of access by setting aside 40-50 seats for each of our large events, spreading the funds between as many live events as possible up until March 31, 2018. Seats will be filled on a first come, first registered basis. Each parent is eligible to receive one in-person event bursary up until March 31, 2018. Additional bursaries are available to register for web streamed events.
