POPARD is excited to present a 2-day Conference on SMILE: an evidence-based program proven effective in developing language and reading skills in all students, including those with profound disabilities.
Do you have a student who has difficulty with phonemic awareness and has failed to learn to speak or read through conventional approaches?
- Learn how SMILE can teach speech, reading and writing to students with the most severe language-learning problems.
- Be introduced to the scope and sequence of the SMILE curriculum that takes students from where they have no intelligible speech to a more appropriate conversational and reading competence.
- Compare the SMILE curriculum to other natural and phonic-based methods.
- Learn the goals and short-term objectives for each of the five SMILE modules and incorporate them into the student’s IEP.
Participants will leave this training prepared to teach students and implement the program.
Date: Thursday and Friday, October 25 & 26, 2018
Time: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
