Lauren Lieberman, Ph.D. Distinguished Service Professor is an expert on physical activity for children with special needs, particularly those with visual impairments and deafblindness. Lauren teaches at The College at Brockport in the Kinesiology Department. She founded and directs Camp Abilities a sports camp for children with visual impairment or deaf-blindness.
This workshop will cover information on how to include children with visual impairments, deafblindness, or multiple disabilities into physical activity. It will cover a range of topics including physical education, sports, recreation, aquatics, play and more. How do you train Education Assistants? Coaches? Parents? The age range focus will be from pre-school to grade 12. Attendees will learn about current research, practice, and programming. Participants will have access to extensive resources including videos, books, websites, and other materials to help increase programming for every child.
This workshop is open to professionals, as well as parents.
