Robert Schramm, BCBA, and Author of the Verbal Behavior Teaching
Manual, “Motivation and Reinforcement: Turning the Tables on
Autism,” will be presenting his very popular ABA with Verbal Behavior workshop
for parents and professionals on February 10-12 in Kamloops, BC.

Participants will learn the tools and techniques of The Verbal Behavior
Approach to ABA, allowing them to “Be a Child’s Best Teacher.”

Topics covered in this 3-day event include:

Day 1:

  • Robert Schramm’s ABA/VB Teaching Philosophy 
  • The Basics of ABA – The ABC Paradigm 
  • The Consequences of Behavior 
  • Not all Reinforcement is equal 
  • Understanding the Purposes of Behavior 
  • Problems associated with Traditional ABA 
  • The 7 Steps to Earning Instructional Control 
    (earning cooperation without escape extinction)

Day 2:

  • The ABC Paradigm Why DTT is better with Verbal Behavior
  • The Functional Classification of Language
  • The Meaning and Mastery of Motivation
  • Three Types of Teaching in VB
  • Maximizing Motivation with “The Teaching Arc”
  • The benefits of Prompting and Prompt Fading

Day 3:

  • Taking the bite out of Data Keeping with Cold-probes
  • Putting the ABC Paradigm into practice
  • Correction Procedures
  • Conditioned Motivators
  • Expanded Trials
  • Transitive Motivation Plans
  • Joint Control
  • Generalized Reinforcers
  • Aggressive and Self-aggressive Behavior
  • ABC quiz
  • The 7 steps for difficult cases
  • The Classification of Language in practice
  • Quality Control in ABA/VB
  • Quiz Common Teaching Mistakes to avoid

The workshop is $100 per day for participation. Some scholarships are
available for families in need.

BCBA’s and other Autism teachers and professionals are recommended to attend
all 3 days for a complete picture of how ABA with Verbal Behavior overcomes the
weaknesses of traditional ABA programs.

Parents of children with Autism and related disorders are advised to participate
in Days 1 and 2 for the best understanding of the value and import of their
participation in a good ABA/VB program.

Professional Fee
Full 3 day course: $300

Parent/Family Fee (Limited scholarship spaces are available)
2 Day Course (Sat/Sun):
First member – $200
Second Member –  $150
Additional members – $100 

Morning session: 9:00am- 12:00pm
Lunch: 12:00-1:00pm (on your own)
Afternoon session: 1:00-4:30 pm

Workshop handouts and snacks, will be provided each day.
Lunch will be on your own
