- SFU Autism Lab
The Autism and Developmental Disorders Lab (ADDL) at Simon Fraser University is hosting a camp for youth and adults with Intellectual Disabilities in a partnership with Special Olympics BC! This is a FREE, fun, and educational camp with a focus on learning about physical activity.
We invite youth ages 8 to 17 years old, and adults ages 18+, with a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability with and without a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder to attend!
The majority of the day will be spent doing fun social games, learning about nutrition, and getting active! A small portion of the camp will be a research activity to discuss your child’s thoughts on physical activity in a 1-on-1 conversation with a trained staff member. Caregivers will be required to provide consent for their child to participate and will be asked to complete two brief questionnaires asking about their child’s physical activities. All campers will receive a free camp T-Shirt and caregivers will be entered into a draw for a $100 Visa Gift Card! Healthy snacks will also be provided for caregivers and campers. Parking and transit costs to SFU will be covered by camp staff up to $6.
