Sheila Threndyle, S-LP will be offering Chill & Chat again this summer. This program offers evidence-based instruction and practice in conversational and executive function skills. It is designed for teens and young adults with high functioning ASD, ADHD, social anxiety, and /nonverbal learning disabilities. It has been operating year round for over four years and has received much praise from teens participants, parents, and teachers. Sheila brings over 30 years of professional experience to her practice and she is a Registered Autism Service Provider.
She employs trained peer conversation coaches to accompany the teen clients and herself for hour long sessions in local cafes, coffee shops, and local parks. The coaches offer modelling, prompting, and feedback. This summer she will be joined by a second SLP, Chelsea Betz who will be helping plan sessions and enable us to break into smaller groups.
During COVID 19, they have been meeting via ZOOM. This summer they plan to meet outdoors on a weekly basis, while maintaining physical distancing. Teens will learn and practice social thinking and executive function skills “at the point of performance” with their peers within the community.
