Early Identification of Autism Spectrum Disorders

By Johnson, Scott

Summary

This online video provides information about research studies which examine infants, some of whom are later diagnosed with autism, in order to identify early features of autism. The video also discusses different models of development in autism, such as the idea of reduced social attention, the idea of domain-general differences, and the possibility of a heterogeneous autism spectrum with different developmental pathways.

The Center for Autism Research and Treatment at UCLA is an autism research center of excellence aiming “to understand the origins of the social, communicative, and language deficits demonstrated by individuals with autism and related disorders.” [Website]
