When Should You Tell Your Child He/She Has ASD?

Parents are often unsure when or if to tell their child they have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This introductory workshop presents three considerations:

• Why you tell your child
• When to tell your child
• What to tell your child

Time will be allocated for sharing concerns or ideas regarding the wisdom of telling the child considering the unique qualities of each child. After attending you should have an understanding of the importance of including your child in understanding the diagnosis of ASD and have direction about the appropriate time and way to begin the discussion.
