The Vancouver International Children’s Festival has three adapted performances this year that are especially designed to be more welcoming to those who may benefit from a more sensory-friendly performance experience. This year, we are offering 1 Neurodiverse Performance, and 2 Relaxed Performance Shows. Come see Sakasaka, a hilarious clown trio from Madagascar, Tree, a World in itself, a gentle intimate show about mama bird and her eggs, and Small But Mighty, a music show with local star Ginalina. Find out more about these shows.
Accessibility Information:
Relaxed Performances:
Our Relaxed Performances are specially designed and adapted performances that welcome audience members who benefit from a more sensory-friendly performance experience. They are available for select shows and performances. A more casual and relaxed environment is welcomed in the performance space where audience noise and movement is okay and adaptations are made to light and sound effects. This year we will offer Relaxed Performance(s) of Sakasaka and Small But Mighty / Ginalina & Friends.
Neurodiverse Performances:
Our Neurodiverse performances are designed and created for Autistic children. Performances of Tree, a world in itself, will offer an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. The performances offer a ratio of one performing artist per child to facilitate numerous personalized interactions with audience members. The performers continually adapt to meet the needs of their audience.
