 e is usually only open to employees of BC Public\, Independent\, and First
  Nations Schools (K-12). However\, this particular session is open to ever
 yone (you are not required to be a BC School employee). The course fee 
 for this session is higher than our other courses because POPARD does not 
 receive funding to train non-school staff.\n\nNOTE: Registrants must meet
  POPARD's English Language Proficiency\, which is Grade 12 English. Detail

  Language Proficiency.\n\nINTRODUCTION TO AUSTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS (ASD)
  COURSE DESCRIPTION\n\nIf you’ve met one person with ASD\, you’ve met 
 one person with ASD. Autism is a spectrum disorder\, meaning it is charact
 erized by a wide range of symptoms and severity. Although there are core c
 haracteristics present in all individuals with a diagnosis of ASD\, there 
 is much variability across individuals. How do we best support students wi
 th ASD\, given their varying profiles? This course provides a comprehensiv
 e overview of ASD\, with an emphasis on topics relevant to the school sett
 ing. Participants will gain the basic understanding and skills needed to p
 rovide quality instruction and support for students with ASD.\n\nThis cour
 se will cover the following:\n \n\n\n\n\nTheoretical Foundations\nApplica
 tion of Theory to Classroom Practice\n\n\n\n\n	Characteristics of ASD\n	Di
 agnosis and assessment\n	Cognitive profiles and ranges of ability\n	Execut
