Jordan’s Principle is a legal rule providing funding to First Nations children and their caregivers to ensure that they have access to needed products, services, and supports. Under Jordan’s Principle, Indigenous Services Canada informs families about available services, coordinates access, and provides funding.
Jordan’s Principle applies to children eligible for registration under the Indian Act; children with a parent or guardian eligible for registration under the Indian Act; recognized by their nation for Jordan’s Principle; or ordinarily resident on reserve.
