Government of Prince Edward Island

Autism Services for Children and Youth

The Government of Prince Edward Island’s Department of Education and Early Years offers autism services and funding for children and youth. Autistic preschool children are offered Intensive Behavioural Intervention by Early Years Autism Specialists integrated into their daily routines at home or at their early childhood education facility. They may also be accompanied at their program by an Autism Assistant.

Autistic children entering school are given transition support and may continue to be assisted by an Autism Consultant throughout their schooling. Funding is offered to hire Autism Assistants for preschool children or other support workers for school-age children.
